Britomart and the Magic Mirror
This slice of Section A of the Faerie Queene really caught my attention.
Britomart and the Knight are traveling and the Knight is asking her all sorts of questions, and eventually he lands on the subject of 'who are we after anyways'. Britomart tells him and says she hates this dude with a passion and she absolutely must challenge and fight him. The Knight is aghast and pleads with her that this fellow is a superbly decent man and begs Britomart not to fight him.
I find this hilarious, but so true. Britomart doesn't hate the guy, she's super in love with him, but she can't backpedal and tell the Knight the truth. Instead, she revels in listening to him sing the man's praises, learn all his information, pleased she is in love with such an awesome dude.
The clincher? She already knew all this because...MAGIC MIRROR (title drop~!)
