Tech Tip WK 14

I went through many song choices when I picked the ending theme for my Storybook. Then I was browsing the tech tips one day and saw we had the chance to make a youtube playlist.

Yes!

Time to make a playlist of the songs I used to inspire me for The Aviarium!

Track List:
"Cage of Solitude" - Midnight Syndicate (The Tour Begins)
"One Way Or Another" - Until the Ribbon Breaks (Harpies)
"Poor Sweet Me" - Lucette (Thunderbird)
"Amor a Los Andes" - ? (Rocs)
"Зачем вы девочки красивых любите?*" - Olga Voronets (Firebird)
"Birdhouse in Your Soul Instrumental" - They Might Be Giants (Ending Theme)

---

I use youtube daily. Mostly I watch Let's Plays, but I also use it to share songs or video clips with friends who may not know what I am referencing. For instance, I used the phrase 'I'm in a glass case of emotion!' last week. I had no idea where it came from and neither did my friend. Youtubed it. It's from Anchorman...a movie I have never seen!

Tech Tip - Pinterest Sidebar

Having embedded my visual inspiration board onto my sidebar, I'm a little sad it's so small and only shows the three latest pins, but it's still a step in the right direction. Now it's even faster to get to the inspiration board!

I have used Pinterest for some years and I have many different 'inspirational' boards (crafting, sewing, cooking, home decor....), but the one I have embedded is specifically for writing and creativity inspiration.

Tech Tip - Sidebar Box

This tech tip is in preparation for embedding a pinterest board on my sidebar. While I could have used it for an 'About Me' section, I don't have much to say about myself that cannot be found in the introduction post. Instead, I prefer an even faster way to get to my inspiration pinboard when I'm looking for pictures to add to posts. Maybe it can be of help to others as well.

Tech Tip - Embedding Pinterest

Follow Whitney Tresler's board Inspirations on Pinterest.

I had no idea you could embed an entire board on a page. This is such handy information! The board I have chosen to embed is of landscapes, buildings or artworks. I tend to find stuff like this very inspiring and with the requirement to add pictures to our storytelling posts and storybook pages, my inclination to hoard such images has been really helpful!

Tech Tip - Site Title

Screenshot from my Storybook Site, The Aviarium.

This is not the first time I have used Google Sites, but it IS the first time I got to really see some of the nitty gritty customisation abilities it has.

For the design, I wanted something contemporary that also matched the colours in the photo I chose for the cover page. The horizontal navigation with 10px spaces between the tabs gives it a pretty balanced feeling and the eyes are naturally drawn up to the navigation by the verticals in the picture.

Aviarium is a word describing a building where birds are kept (like an aviary, but in Latin for cool points). The page titles are to simulate a museum tour.
